Thank You Jill! - Spring Appeal Underway

Dear Friends,

TAUNY’s mission is to explore, honor, and celebrate the diverse cultures, skills, and crafts of everyday life in New York’s North Country to bring people together across our region and beyond.

As we write this Spring Appeal letter, we say thank you for your generous donations in the past. Your support has helped TAUNY thrive and has made many vibrant, artistic, and cultural programs and exhibits possible across our region.

Your gift now is as important as ever, as TAUNY will be facing a special challenge in the coming months. Our long-time Executive Director, Jill Breit, will be retiring at the end of May. Jill has been involved with TAUNY for 30 years, and has been our Executive Director for the past 15 years. Under Jill’s remarkable leadership, TAUNY has grown into an organization that is an essential part of cultural and economic life in the North Country, known across New York State and beyond for excellence.

With this Spring Appeal, you have the opportunity to support TAUNY, but also to honor Jill and her work. As you consider your gift to TAUNY, we hope you will give generously, and we hope you will consider increasing the size of your gift to celebrate Jill and her invaluable contribution to TAUNY and to all of our lives.

A quick review of some recent TAUNY highlights and news:

• Tilly Lind joined the TAUNY staff in August 2022 as Program Director. She spent the previous four years working on her doctoral dissertation on the ecology of wool production in Estonia. Tilly hit the ground running at TAUNY with well-attended workshops in spinning, weaving and carding wool. She enthusiastically curates popular exhibits and programs for all ages.

• TAUNY, in conjunction with the St. Lawrence Arts Council, was awarded a major Creatives Rebuild New York Grant, which enables us to employ three full-time artists through June of 2024. Cassie Helman, a ceramicist; James Gonzalez, a blacksmith and metal worker; and Dan Duggan, a musician, are filling the TAUNY Center and the North Country, with dynamic and unique artwork, workshops, concerts, and dancing.

We will have much to share with you in the coming months, as we transition to new leadership. With your support, TAUNY’s future will be bright.

We are aiming to reach a goal of $75,000 raised with this appeal. Your donation of $150 or more will make it happen! Thanks in advance for your generous donation.
