TAUNY, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, and Nature Up North invite the community to a night of music and fun around the campfire on Thursday, June 29th from 7:30 to 9:00pm at the Wachtmeister Field Station (Park Street, Canton, NY). Guests are welcome to bring guitars, friends, and family for a lively campfire sing/play-along jam featuring NCPR’s Barb Heller. The group will be playing and singing traditional campfire songs with a few requests added. No musical expertise is required. Barb will guide participating musicians through the chord changes. This event is free and open to the public. Participants can arrive a few minutes early if you need help tuning instruments. S’mores will be provided!

 

The campfire jam will be held at the Wachtmeister Field Station at the south end of the SLU campus in Canton. To get there, proceed south down Park St. past the campus athletic fields. Cross the wooden bow bridge over the Little River and take the first left into the field station parking lot. Coming from the south, it is the second driveway on the right after the Kunoco station as you approach Canton village.

 

TAUNY  is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate the folk traditions and local culture of everyday life—present and past—in the North Country. To do so, TAUNY seeks to research and preserve a record of diverse groups, customs and traditions; to recognize and empower traditional arts and artists; to identify and promote regional identity; and to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about folklore and culture.
