Dan Berggren

Saturday, October 14th, 7 PM, $15

Dan Berggren is a tradition-based songsmith who writes with honesty, humor and a strong sense of place. His songs explore the many dimensions of home, hard-working folks, taking care of our planet and each other.

Dan’s roots are firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised on land that had been in the family for five generations, but his music has branched out across many borders. Since 1973 he has entertained audiences throughout New York State, from Texas and Kentucky to Michigan and Minnesota, and overseas. Some of his songs have been symphonically arranged, giving Dan the opportunity to perform with orchestras in Fredonia, Ithaca, Syracuse, Indiana and West Virginia.

The award-winning musician and educator held various jobs before devoting his life to music full-time: working in the woods with a forest ranger and surveyor; radio producer, writer and announcer for the American Forces Network Europe; professor of audio and radio studies for 27 years at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he was also a sound designer for theater and dance, executive producer of numerous public radio programs; and owner of Sleeping Giant Records

Daniel Kelly

Thursday, November 30th, 7 pm, $15

An artist who has been called “stunningly original” with “a visionary imagination,” composer and pianist Daniel Kelly explores the meeting place of music with literature, visual art and journalism, captivating audiences across the country. A prolific composer and tireless musical explorer, Kelly continually seeks out new avenues for his creativity.

Making connections is one of Kelly’s strengths, whether it’s exploring connections between art forms or connecting with audiences. Gifted with an uncanny ear for music and story, it’s his deep sense of empathy and humanity that impacts audiences the most, making performances uplifting and emotional experiences.

Don Woodcock and Gretchen Koehler

Friday December 8th, 7 pm, The TAUNY Center, $15

For two decades, champion fiddlers Don Woodcock & Gretchen Koehler have traveled the region playing the Old Time jigs, reels, waltzes and polkas that have been enjoyed by fiddle fans for generations. Woodcock and Koehler treat their audiences to an impressive repertoire of (mostly) familiar tunes and fun stories that take listeners back in time. First meeting almost 40 years ago at a New England Fiddle contest, they have a long shared history, knowledge and love of fiddle music that always brings audiences to their feet.
