Support Traditional Arts in Upstate New York

Dear TAUNY Friend,

You can help us realize our goals to widen our impact on the North Country along these main priorities. As part of this campaign and becoming a “TAUNY Friend” you can choose to be a sustaining contributor who gives an automatically recurring donation each month. We are also offering additional benefits at higher giving levels that bring you closer to the organization including: Folkstore discounts, “All Access” passes to our public programs, and an invitation to a “Friends of TAUNY” gathering in the spring. We know that you share with us a belief in our mission to “explore, honor, and celebrate the diverse cultures, skills, and crafts of everyday life in New York’s North Country to bring people together across our region and beyond.” We see our work furthering these important goals, and our beautiful TAUNY Center space as a hub of arts and culture to develop our region’s tourism, economic development, and overall attractiveness.

We are excited to bring an expansive selection of public programs as part of this coming holiday season. We hope you will enjoy the wide variety of events featured at The TAUNY Center:

The Fiddling Bear concert series with some of the best names in traditional music in our region, an exhibit from Folkstore favorite Adirondack Fragrance Farm, and our Holiday Showcase and Open House with our ever-popular Sugar & Spice gingerbread making workshop and contest. In the new year, we are preparing for our Cabin Fever Concert Music and Dance Series, more Arts in Education programs at The Center and in local public schools, and a series of kitchen events with diverse traditional culinary artists and delicious foods!

It has been such a pleasure to share with you, one of our most steadfast supporters, my first few months here at TAUNY. Shifting into our busiest season of the year, we are grateful to be able to offer our community a strong series of public performances, educational programs, exhibits, and support for artists & artisans at our Folkstore.

These projects reflect the best of what TAUNY offers, building knowledge around, and celebrating the traditions of, the people and places of our North Country region. As a friend of TAUNY, who has contributed to the organization in the past financially, as a volunteer, and attendee at our events, we thank you for helping to make this all possible. As part of our year-end fundraising appeal, I write to ask that you make an essential donation to continue with the programs you have come to rely upon, and which we aim to build upon in 2024:

  • Arts in Education – Educational workshops & programs for youth & adults.

  • Public Programs & Exhibitions – Concerts, dances, exhibitions, kitchen and foodways events, field research and archival work.

  • Local Artisans & Folk Store – support for local artisan makers in our store, displays of individual artists.

Find out more about the sustainer giving and other potential benefits which come from being a “TAUNY Friend.” We have set our sights high, and with a generous contribution from you today we can continue to deliver outstanding programs to our public. We look forward to sharing with you around the outstanding traditions and values we hold as a North Country

community. Thank you for your support!

Executive Director

Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY) 315-368-4289

For over 30 years TAUNY has been collecting, documenting, preserving, interpreting, presenting, and celebrating the folk culture and traditional arts of the North Country. As a nonprofit organization, TAUNY relies on the generosity of our Friends to enable us to do in-depth research and offer award-winning programs and services in Canton and across the North Country.

All of this is possible thanks to contributions from our TAUNY donors and business supporters  who recognize the value of the work we are doing across the North Country. As you consider your support for TAUNY, take a minute to think about what TAUNY is worth to you.

How important is it that we have an organization working to identify, record, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the North Country? How important is it that TAUNY remains a thriving organization, able to sustain the quality exhibits and programming we enjoy? That we maintain a cultural center where we can teach future generations and give artists a place to display and sell their art?

Help secure our future.  Include TAUNY in your estate plan.
