The North Country Folkstore is TAUNY’s gallery shop. 

The Folkstore features authentic, handmade products from more than a hundred individuals and families throughout the region. 

It provides an outlet for local traditional artists to sell their items and a resource for visitors to find local products for souvenirs and gifts.

Proceeds from Folkstore sales support TAUNY’s educational programs, including performances, demonstrations, and workshops by master traditional artists.


The North Country Folkstore's Mission is to:
  • Provide the public with the opportunity for education about the traditional arts and regional culture beyond TAUNY’s other programming.
  • Provide the public with the opportunity to see and purchase products that are traditional and authentic to the region or that reflect the values and aesthetics of life in the region.
  • Provide traditional artists with exposure to a larger audience.
  • Provide financial support for TAUNY’s work in the North Country.
  • Uphold and further TAUNY’s mission through products that meet criteria that reflect regional traditions and identity. 
Featured Artist
Periodically, in addition to all the artists whose work is regularly available at the Folkstore, the work of one artist is highlighted in a Featured Artist series. During the month that artist’s work is on special display and he or she spends a Saturday afternoon speaking with people and offering demonstrations. Check here regularly to learn more about the month's featured artist.
