The Niagara Mohawk Foundation was recognized in 1997 for providing funding for folk arts programs. This facility is one of those originally built and run as part of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation's Raquette River development in 1955, a project featured through documentation of oral histories for TAUNY's research project and 2017 exhibition Look Down, You'll See Our Tracks: Raquette River Dam Stories.
