CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
To maintain the full functionality of The TAUNY Center, the organization devotes significant operational time and resources to ongoing capital improvements. With thousands of patrons coming into The Center each year, TAUNY prides itself on offering a welcoming, accessible, and modern facility that supports the full programming our community deserves.
Phases I & II - Capital Improvements
Over the past few years, TAUNY has successfully completed two phases of its capital improvement projects. Phase I focused on the full replacement of the TAUNY Center roof which took place in 2023, and Phase II featured the installation of a new HVAC system by Merkeley Brothers in May of 2024.
Phase & III - 2025 & 2026
Over the next two years, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York’s (TAUNY) will undertake the third phase of its ongoing capital improvement projects at its Center on Main Street in downtown Canton, NY. This project includes: the addition of an automatic door opener, replacement of all windows, mortar and chimney upgrades in the rear of the building, renovating the East & West walls of the TAUNY Center main floor, fixing the downstairs floor tiling (which has begun to deteriorate), and repairing the historic windows, TAUNY sign, awning, doors, and full front facade to be more historically accurate, functional, and which will enhance the streetscape.
