Upcoming Programs

"Get the Folk Through It" Pandemic Documentation Project

We want to hear about your experiences and creative responses over the past months and going forward, with the pandemic changing many of our daily ways, while also reinforcing our sense of what’s most familiar and important to us. Check out the project description at for more about what we're looking for and how to share it with us.

Face Mask Collection and Challenge

Masks may cover our faces, but they also show things about us. For one thing, wearing a face mask shows that you care about the wellbeing of the people around you. And the face mask you wear--whether through pattern, design, or the fabric and other materials it uses--might show other things about you too. It can say something about your personality, your interests, your connection to fiber arts traditions, your heritage, and more. Over the coming month, TAUNY invites you to share a photo of your meaningful mask, and if you’d like to take it to the next level, we challenge you to make a mask that expresses something about you, your background, and your experience, and to share with us for an upcoming exhibit feature (online and/or in person). Share photos with us at by July 31. Please include your name, email and/or phone number, and any story or explanation about your mask that you’d like to share. This call and challenge are part of TAUNY’s “Get the Folk Through It” Pandemic Documentation Project.

#AsyncArts Community Chalk Mural: Summer Traditions

July 6-31

The TAUNY Center, Main St. Sidewalk

In partnership with SLC Arts, TAUNY is participating in #AsyncArts with our own community chalk art project created by local artist contributors this July. The #AsyncArts program creates art experiences the community can view and be a part of while maintaining social distance, rather than coming together in the usual gallery/museum setting. This #AsyncArts Chalk Mural will be created on the front sidewalk at The TAUNY Center, and the theme is: Summer Traditions. What are yours? From picnics to paddling, fireworks to fireside jams, road trips to reading in the hammock… Whether your traditions are in full swing this summer or you’re dreaming of summers past and future while adjusting to the current “normal,” we want to see it all, and anyone is welcome to contribute! If you would like to add to the mural by chalking images or words of your own on this theme, contact TAUNY at 315-386-4289 or to sign up, then stop by any time during our open hours to pick up the chalk at the Folkstore desk and have at it!
