A college friend “challenged” Valerie to learn to crochet over summer break at SUNY Potsdam in 1970. She returned to campus in the fall with a scarf in hand and has been “hooking” ever since. She modified a published pattern by adding bangs and buttons. She was inspired to create this hat for her 5-month-old granddaughter who needed a “wig” for Halloween!
