This month’s Featured Artist at the North Country Folkstore, chainsaw carver Terry McKendree, will demonstrate his work in front of The TAUNY Center next Saturday, March 20, at 1 p.m.

A self-taught carver from Potsdam, Terry’s work is known across the North Country. He will demonstrate how he works with a piece of wood and a chainsaw to create carved sculptures of bears, frogs, dogs, birds, and more.  Following his sidewalk demonstration, he will be in the Folkstore from 2 to 3 p.m. to talk with people about his work, which keeps him busy since his retirement as Potsdam’s police chief. Visitors can enter a drawing for an original carving that Terry will give away at the end of the day.
