WORKSHOP POSTPONED, TO BE RESCHEDULED IN 2010

Visitors to TAUNY’s “Anatomy of a Packbasket” exhibit can try their hand at making their own packbasket at a workshop by basketmaker Mick Jarvis of Chateaugay. On Saturday, December 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Jarvis, who has a basket in TAUNY’s exhibit, will offer an all-day workshop during which participants will make a full-size packbasket.

The workshop fee—$100 for TAUNY members and $125 for non-members—includes instruction and the cost of materials. Class size is limited and registration is required. For more information or to register call 315-386-4289 or email info@tauny.org.

TAUNY’s packbasket exhibit, which remains open through December 31, looks at the history of the Adirondack packbasket, illustrates the step-by-step process of making one, and includes a display of antique and contemporary packbaskets.
