Thanksgiving Weekend Fun at TAUNY
Looking for something to do over the Thanksgiving holidays? Head to The TAUNY
Center in Canton for a weekend of activities and fun for the whole family!
Blacksmith Keith Fearins of Russell will bring his forge and anvil to TAUNY on Friday, November 27, to demonstrate how he creates his unique iron work. His art includes breathtaking iron sculptures of lilies and cattails, as well as an array of iron hooks, both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Keith will set up his forge in front of TAUNY from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., where he'll be custom making hooks and other iron works. Works Keith creates while you watch will be available for sale.
On Saturday, November 28, stop in to admire the work of North Country artists Bob Pinkerton and Fred Peryer, who will be at TAUNY from 1 to 3 p.m. to demonstrate and talk about their work. Bob Pinkerton is known for his beautiful shaker boxes and Fred Peryer is a rustic furniture maker who specializes in twig and birch bark construction.
While you’re visiting, be sure to tour TAUNY’s current exhibit “Anatomy of a Packbasket” and browse the shelves of the North Country Folkstore for locally made holiday shopping ideas.
