At TAUNY’s December First Friday Music Jam, board members of the Canton Community Fund (CCF) were on hand to enjoy the music and present a $1,000 check to TAUNY in support of the ongoing jams.

“For the past two years, musicians Gretchen Koehler and Barb Heller have regularly hosted open music jams on the first Friday of the month here at The TAUNY Center,” explains TAUNY Executive Director Jill Breit. “The music jams are an informal opportunity for musicians and music lovers to gather on a Friday evening to play and listen, and we are delighted that, with the support of Canton’s Community Foundation, TAUNY can continue to make this fun event available for Canton–area residents.”

“The Canton Fund is excited to support TAUNY’s Friday Music Jams. They’re a wonderful way to showcase local talent, draw people downtown, and celebrate a vital part of North Country culture open to everyone,” says CCF President Chris Angus.

The Canton Community Fund, operating under the auspices of the Northern New York Community Foundation (NNYCF), works to keep Canton an attractive and vibrant place to live and work by responding to appeals that aim to sustain or improve the life of the community. TAUNY is interested in offering more evening programs downtown to draw people out and to create a vibrant night scene, and hopefully to support other businesses while they are here. The Community Fund’s donation will support a series of nine jams in 2013. Learn more about the Canton Community Fund at www.cantoncommunityfund.org.
