TAUNY - News

To celebrate TAUNY's 25th anniversary, on Thursday, May 26, at the Eben Holden Conference Center at St. Lawrence University, a prized collection of Hazel Tyrrell hand-carved birds will be auctioned by Kip Blanchard of Blanchard’s Auction Service. A silent auction will feature other North Country art and antiques donated to TAUNY for the auction.

Cash bar catered by 1844 House

Since 1986 Traditional Arts in Upstate New York has been showcasing the folk culture and living traditions of the North Country. In 2004, a collection of birds carved by the late Hazel Tyrrell of Pierrepont was donated to TAUNY and St. Lawrence University. It was the intention of the donors that the birds be sold to raise money for the two organizations. TAUNY’s portion of the auction proceeds will go to the Evergreen Campaign to support renovations to The TAUNY Center in Canton.

According to auctioneer Kip Blanchard, “This is a rare opportunity to find this many Tyrrell birds in one location up for bid. The collection of birds, from a single owner, is in excellent condition.” Click here to see Blanchards’ photos of the Tyrrell birds and other auction items.

“We think the TAUNY at 25 Auction is a true celebration of TAUNY’s work in the North Country,” says Kristen Whittier, TAUNY Director of Development and auction organizer. “There will be something for everyone - we hope the North Country community will join us for a festive evening.”

I clean every room in my house from top to bottom. go tgoruhh things and weed out what i dont use. put them into groups like one i use for donations to thrift shops another i use for things to give to family friends.Another things just to throw away.i organize (this year i reorganized moved furniture) made room for decorations sweep/vaccumm/dust/mop.clean bathroom toilet sink have(only if you dont have pets small children) a container that i keep water bleach in, leave my toilet brush in it, so its ready to use anytime.I bleach my white kitchen sink counters by filling kitchen sink with bleach water leave soak for an hour rinse and its as clean as can be! I think it turned out great! A freind of mine does one every year. When our kids were younger, she always had a little get together with a few of the kids in the neighborhood for a dismantling party, which the kids seemed to enjoy as much as making it — and just the anticipation through the season of waiting for the day to dismantle it and eat it seemed to create just as much excitement as Christmas morning — or almost as much.
