On Saturday, December 4, at 7 p.m., TAUNY will usher in the holiday season and celebrate the release of the first-ever music CD on the TAUNY label with a concert by the Fraser Family of Harrisville.
The Frasers will warm the Edwards Opera House with Scottish and Irish selections from their new CD “Home of our Hearts.” At the concert they will perform old-time favorites such as “Where the River Shannon Flows,” classic Scottish tunes like “Loch Lomond,” rousing party tunes such as “Jug of Punch” and “Hannigan's Hooley,” and newer songs written by members of the family. The Frasers rarely performs outside their home community, so TAUNY’s holiday concert offers a special opportunity to hear them.
“The Frasers sing with heart and an awareness that the music they perform has been passed down through generations of their own family and the larger cultural group they represent. The combination of passion and carefully practiced harmonies is irresistible,” says TAUNY Executive Director Jill Breit, who was also executive producer for the CD recording. “We’re honored that this enormously talented family of musicians chose to collaborate with us on the CD and look forward to sharing it with the public at the Edwards Opera House concert.”
Concert goers are invited to a special pre-concert gathering at the Last Lap, across from the Opera House in Edwards, at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the December 4 concert are $10 per person and can be purchased using cash, check, or credit card at The TAUNY Center or by phone (315-386-4289) or email (info@TAUNY.org).
Tickets may also be purchased at the Wood Family Grocery in Edwards, the Oswegatchie Coffee Company in Gouverneur, the Brewer Bookstore in Canton, and in Potsdam at Strawberry Fields Music and Northern Music & Video.
