Dear TAUNY Friend,

When we ask, our friends offer many different reasons for supporting TAUNY. You may appreciate the way that TAUNY honors and sustains the special character and distinct identity of the North Country. You may be passionate about one or another of the many local music, food, storytelling, cultural and craft traditions that TAUNY presents. Or you may love the North Country Folkstore, which helps to support over 100 regional artisans. There are so many reasons to support TAUNY!

This fall, because of a change in the funding cycle of NYSCA (the New York State Council on the Arts), TAUNY is facing a funding gap that results in the loss of 6 months of operating support. That’s 16% of our funding that we need to replace, and we need to do it now.

In response, a group of supporters has stepped forward to lead a donor-driven campaign to help TAUNY bridge this funding gap . They want to inspire fellow TAUNY friends like you to follow them. So they’re offering a series of fundraising challenges to help us raise $50,000 between now and October 14.

In the first week of the campaign, a dollar-for-dollar challenge got us off to a terrific start: $5000 in individual contributions were matched by a generous friend. During week 2, another supporter gave $50 to TAUNY for every individual contribution made, resulting in an additional $2,250 dollars for TAUNY. In week 4, donors were entered into a raffle to win a two-night mid-week stay at Catamount Lodge & Forest. Then our partners at the St. Lawrence International Film Festival offered a pair of VIP All-Access passes to the Festival as a prize to a lucky donor.

Now, with the campaign drawing to a close, several TAUNY friends have offered matching funds to challenge others to pitch in. Through the end of the campaign, they'll match each and every contribution to the campaign, dollar for dollar, up to $8750!

Through Wednesday, all donations to TAUNY--including yours-- will be matched, dollar for dollar.

So by acting to give now, YOUR gift will be instantly doubled, to go twice as far!
