The Salute to North Country Heritage

Each year, the North Country Heritage Award is presented at a party at The TAUNY Center! The whole community is invited to help us celebrate the recipients and learn about their contributions to North Country culture.

The 2016 Salute hosted a packed house to honor 4-H Camp Overlook, Owls Head, Franklin County; The Adirondack Playboys, Lewis and Jefferson Counties; Allan Newell, Hammond; and St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum, Madrid.

Research and documentation of North Country Heritage has been carried out by TAUNY Director of Research and Programming Camilla Ammirati, TAUNY Founding Director Varick Chittenden, and St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps Fellow Molly Hyde. Molly Hyde created the presentation above. Photography by Jason Hunter. The 2016 Salute was made possible by generous support from The Cloudsplitter Foundation, The Sweetgrass Foundation, Corning, Inc., Heritage Homes, Inc., and New York State Council on the Arts.
